ABOUT BEANZ’ AFRICAN MUSIC
Black Beanz dance moves reflect an African fusion music genre sung primarily in Swahili. It’s a newer African genre combining Afrobeats, R & B, hip hop, Reggae and some gospel. Some call it Bongo Flava (“flavor” in Swahili), a dance movement in Tanzania started in the ‘90s.
Dancing is primarily learned in the church and at family/village gatherings sometimes starting as early as 3 years old! In East Africa, where most of our African immigrant families originate, music and dance are important ways of communicating, motivating, and creating a community. For agricultural-based African families, dancing and singing is an important part of the day while working in the fields.
